Welcome to SonShine Learning Center, the place for a child to learn and grow in a nurturing, loving environment.  Our Center opened its doors on July 21, 2008, as a ministry of Black Canyon Community Church. We saw the need for a quality preschool program for all families in our community and wanted a way to help those families grow and thrive.

My name is Sherry Birch and I am the Child Life Pastor and Director here.  I am married to Tom Birch, and we have two children Michael and Jenny.  I graduated from Yavapai Community College with my AAS in Early Childhood Education, received my Certificate from the Harris Infant and Early Childhood Mental Health Institute and also my Certificate from the Professional Development Leadership Institute.  I have always had a heart for children and want to help them succeed. 

At SonShine we feel that children should be given every chance to grow and learn during the first years of their life (0-5).  We believe that children need to be in a caring, nurturing environment where they can learn through play.  Children grow so much in these first years. Did you know that by age 3 a child’s brain is 75% developed and by age 5, 90% developed?  We are excited to be a part of preparing children for their future and getting them ready and excited for kindergarten and beyond.

SonShine Learning Center is state licensed for children 1-12 years of age, DES certified, and is a 4 Star – Quality Plus rated school through the Quality First program of First Things First.  

Our facility is open Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm.  I would be happy to give you a tour and answer any questions you might have, so stop by, email me or give me a call.
